Windows 11 Overhaul: Microsoft Swaps Legacy Interfaces with WinUI 3

Microsoft is giving Windows 11 a fresh new look by replacing legacy interfaces with WinUI 3. The tech giant has confirmed its commitment to the framework and will begin enforcing it for the Windows shell, which includes the AutoPlay dialog.

The AutoPlay dialog shows up when you connect a phone, USB drive, or any media device, and it's currently stuck in the top-right corner of the screen. However, Microsoft plans to turn it into a proper dialog that opens in the center of the screen, similar to how it worked back in Windows 7 days.

The new design will feature a dark background, rounded corners, larger icons, and more spacing between each action, making it consistent with Windows 11. Additionally, users will have the option to choose whether they want Windows to 'Always' remember their choice or use it only once.

This redesign effort goes beyond just the AutoPlay dialog; Microsoft is also revamping the Properties sheet in File Explorer. The current implementation in preview builds may look a bit rough due to extra padding, but it will get better as we get closer to release.
