Windows 11 Right-Click Menu Gets a Long-Overdue Makeover
Microsoft has announced a redesigned context menu for File Explorer in Windows 11's Experimental channel. The new design aims to provide a faster, cleaner, and more customizable experience.
The right-click menu now features fewer options by default, making it less cluttered. Users can also customize what appears in the menu through settings. Additionally, users can choose to have a context menu similar to Windows 10's, where the top elements are integrated into the vertical menu list.
Users can remove any unwanted entries from the menu, and the performance of the right-click menu has improved significantly. The changes are currently in testing and may take some time to arrive in the full version of Windows 11, likely later this year.
The redesign has been met with mixed reactions from users, with some expressing relief that it's finally being addressed while others feel it's too little too late. Some have pointed out that the changes are driven by necessity due to the RAM crisis and the need to make Windows 11 work on lower-end hardware.
