Windows Users Urged to Update Immediately Amid Three Critical Zero-Day Vulnerabilities

Microsoft has released new security updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11 as part of its August Patch Tuesday. The update addresses a total of around 398 security vulnerabilities, with 42 classified as critical.

The update is particularly important due to three so-called zero-day vulnerabilities that have been known to attackers or are being actively exploited. These vulnerabilities affect the network driver afd.sys, the Windows User Profile Service, and a driver for Windows container isolation.

If not addressed, these vulnerabilities could allow attackers to gain elevated privileges on a system. In addition to security improvements, Microsoft provides bug fixes. For example, Windows 10 users will benefit from a correction that resolves an issue with backups to network shares due to invalid login credentials.
