Wix Touts AI-Powered Website Builder After Google Partnership

Wix's fortunes have been tied to AI since the start of this year. As chatbots became increasingly able to build websites, investors saw little value in website builders and sent WIX stock plummeting from its opening price of $100 to a low of $40 by June.

The company responded by cutting 20% of its staff and focusing on its AI capabilities, but it wasn't until August 24 that things took a turn for the better. On that day, Wix announced a partnership with Google's Alphabet (GOOGL) to integrate its Wix Harmony builder directly into Google Gemini as a connected app.

Through this integration, users can type '@Wix' in the chat and describe their desired website by voice or text, generating a working site hosted on Wix's infrastructure. Features like commerce, payments, scheduling, and SEO are already built-in.
