Women Arrested in Heinous Capital Murder of 84-Year-Old San Antonio Man

Two women have been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the death of 84-year-old Manuel Mendez, who was found bound and wrapped in a ditch off Rigsby Ave. on March 28.

The suspects, 23-year-old Ulani Nunes and 43-year-old Leidy Hernandez, allegedly planned to rob and kill Mendez at his home where they were negotiating a rental lease with him.

According to the arrest affidavit, Nunes admitted to devising a plan with Hernandez to commit the crime and buying supplies for it at Home Depot on March 25.

The victim's son, David Mendez, described the crime as 'heinous' and called for justice, stating that the women are 'dangerous people' who need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.'
