Word Bug Saves PDFs in Wrong Location on Microsoft Servers

Microsoft's Word for Windows has been plagued by a bug that causes PDFs to be saved in an unexpected location instead of SharePoint. When users update to version 2609 of Word, saving documents as PDFs to SharePoint Online locations can result in the file being saved with a random filename in the C:\(username]\(location] directory. The issue arises when using Save/Save As and choosing the PDF file type, but not when exporting or saving elsewhere.

Some affected users have reported that rolling back the update resolves the issue, while Microsoft has yet to respond to queries about a fix.

The bug is the latest in a series of problems affecting Microsoft's products, including issues with the September Windows update and a paste problem in Excel.
