WSL Containers Now Generally Available on Windows
Microsoft has announced that WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) containers is now generally available. This feature allows developers to run Linux containers directly on Windows devices, making it a more seamless and integrated experience.
The new feature includes several improvements, including the introduction of the WSL containers CLI, which provides direct build, run, and deploy capabilities for Linux containers on Windows. Additionally, the WSL containers API offers access functions to run Linux containers programmatically in native Windows apps.
Microsoft has also extended its integration with Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) to include container workflows. This allows organizations to adopt WSL containers with governance and security controls required for production environments.
