Xbox Cloud Gaming Hits Hour Limits
Microsoft announced a change to its Xbox Cloud Gaming service in November 2026. The company will implement a monthly hour limit on cloud gaming for Game Pass subscribers, with different tiers having varying limits: 15 hours per month for Ultimate subscribers, 10 hours for Premium subscribers, and 5 hours for Essential subscribers.
Starting in November 2026, every Game Pass tier will carry a hard monthly ceiling on cloud-streaming hours. The limit is intended to control costs as Xbox faces rising infrastructure expenses. Microsoft has confirmed that players will need to buy additional cloud play time to keep streaming after hitting the cap, but the price of that additional time remains unknown.
Canadian Game Pass subscribers already paying CAD $25.99 a month for Ultimate will see their monthly hour limit drop from unlimited to 15 hours. This change is part of a broader pattern of Xbox Store pricing in Canada running ahead of its US and UK counterparts, despite currency conversion factors.
