Xbox Cloud Gaming Limits Implemented by Microsoft

Microsoft's Xbox division is implementing monthly time limits on cloud gaming for Game Pass subscribers. The change affects only about 4% of subscribers, who will be capped at 15 hours per month for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, 10 hours for Premium subscribers, and 5 hours for Essential subscribers.

The decision to introduce usage-based pricing is aimed at improving the economics of cloud gaming and controlling rising infrastructure costs. Microsoft can now align revenue more closely with computing resources consumed by heavy users.

Heavy users who exceed their monthly allowance will have the option to purchase additional cloud gaming hours through the Xbox Store, creating an incremental monetization opportunity for the company.
