Xbox Cloud Gaming Limits to Hit Monthly Caps Starting in November
Microsoft is implementing time limits on its Xbox cloud gaming feature as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription plans. Starting in November, subscribers will have a monthly cap ranging from 5 to 15 hours, depending on their plan. The company claims that this change is necessary due to increasing costs associated with providing cloud gaming services.
According to Microsoft, the current unlimited cloud gaming feature has been growing in popularity, but the cost of maintaining it has become unsustainable. As a result, they are introducing monthly limits to ensure the service remains viable while continuing to invest in its reliability and performance.
The new limits will apply globally, including in the Middle East, where users can expect to face caps ranging from 5 to 15 hours per month. For example, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have a limit of 15 hours, while Game Pass Premium subscribers will be capped at 10 hours. Game Pass Essential subscribers will have the lowest limit of 5 hours.
Microsoft expects that only about 4% of its subscribers will be affected by these changes. To exceed their monthly cap, customers can purchase additional hours through the Xbox Store for an extra fee. The company notes that pricing and availability may vary by market.
