Xbox Consoles May Face Permanent Bans over Piracy
Xbox consoles can be suspended or banned by Microsoft for violating terms of service, including circumventing security measures and engaging in pirated software.
According to Xbox's Software License Agreement, attempting to bypass technical limitations or anti-piracy systems can render the console permanently unusable immediately or after an update. However, Microsoft has stated that it does not brick consoles as a form of punishment.
Instead, consoles may be suspended from using services, and repeat offenses can lead to permanent bans. When banned, consoles lose access to online features, including multiplayer and streaming services, but any previously downloaded content remains accessible until deleted.
