Xbox Cuts 268 Roles, Hands Next Halo To Activision Amid Restructuring Efforts
Microsoft's Xbox division has made significant changes in its restructuring efforts, eliminating 268 roles across various studios and management functions. The moves aim to 'strengthen our franchises and games' by streamlining business units and focusing expertise.
Activision will now oversee the next Halo game, with a new team specifically tasked with developing it outside of Call of Duty plans. World's Edge and Rare have also been moved under Activision's remit, while Obsidian has joined Bethesda in its efforts to support current projects and collaborate on a new Fallout project.
Matt Booty, Xbox chief content officer, noted that the studio changes are part of a broader 'reset' for the company. The restructuring process began in July with significant cuts, but this latest round brings it three-quarters of the way through its previously announced goals.
