Xbox Expands Digital Library Program Amid Franchise Exclusions
Microsoft has expanded its Xbox Disc-to-Digital program to include all users, allowing them to convert physical game copies into digital licenses. The feature currently supports over 1,500 games, but some major franchises are still excluded.
The most notable exception is the Forza series, which cannot be converted due to complex licensing agreements with automotive and music providers. These contracts often expire after several years, making it difficult for Microsoft to offer digital copies of these games.
Despite this limitation, Microsoft has indicated that additional titles may be added to the program in the future, although no specific timeline has been confirmed.
