Xbox Layoffs Continue with 268 Job Cuts
Microsoft's Xbox division has announced another round of layoffs, cutting 268 jobs across various studios and management teams. This move comes just months after eliminating 1,600 roles in July as part of its broader restructuring efforts.
The latest reductions affect employees at Halo Studios, other first-party studios, and Xbox Game Studios' management and central functions. The company has stated that it is pushing ahead with a restructuring plan announced for Microsoft's 2027 financial year, which ends in June 2027.
Xbox chief operating officer Matt Booty explained that the changes are part of the previously announced restructuring, which aims to improve the economics of its gaming business. The company has already spun off five gaming studios and is now regrouping remaining studios around larger franchises and publishing structures.
