Xbox Layoffs Continue with 300 Job Cuts in Washington State
Microsoft is cutting approximately 300 jobs in Washington state as part of its broader downsizing efforts. The layoffs target employees working on the Xbox business, which has struggled to compete with rising hardware costs and saturating market competition.
The company had already announced a 3,200-person reduction in July, citing unsustainable margins that are 3-10x lower than comparable businesses. In a statement, Asha Sharma, new CEO of Xbox, described the business as 'not healthy.'
Microsoft's Chief Communications Officer Frank Shaw said no specific role was targeted, but the layoffs affected a broad range of Xbox employees. The company claims to continue hiring across other departments.
