A Barnsley fish and chip shop owner has been honored with a portrait by a royal artist, celebrating the impact of independent businesses in their communities. Pindy Kaur, who runs Monk Bretton's Ocean Fish Bar, was painted by artist Nicky Philipps, known for her portraits of members of the Royal Family, including the late Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait is part of the Local Royalty campaign by Coca-Cola GB and will be displayed at the Saatchi Gallery in London from October 28.
Kaur, who has been serving fish and chips since the early 2000s, expressed her amazement at being painted by someone who has also painted the Queen. The campaign aims to highlight the contributions of local businesses to their communities.
