Yotta Bets Big on Nvidia's Vera Rubin GPUs in $12 Billion Indian Expansion
Yotta Data Services has made one of the largest single GPU orders in India's history. The company, backed by the Hiranandani Group, plans to deploy 80,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin GPUs across two new campuses, with a total investment of over $12 billion. This move is seen as a bet on India's AI compute market shifting from small, rented GPU clusters to nation-scale infrastructure.
The order breaks down into two sites: the D4 data center in Greater Noida, which will house 40,000 Vera Rubin GPUs, and the NM2 campus expansion in Navi Mumbai, which will run 40,000 Nvidia GB300 Blackwell Ultra GPUs. The combined capacity of these sites is 200 megawatts.
The Vera Rubin GPU features HBM4 memory, offering a bandwidth leap over its predecessor, the Blackwell Ultra. Each Rubin GPU packs 288GB of HBM4 memory across eight stacks, delivering roughly 22 terabytes per second of bandwidth per chip. This makes it particularly well-suited for AI workloads that require fast data transfer.
Yotta's CEO, Sunil Gupta, stated that the company already controls a majority share of India's installed GPU capacity and aims to maintain its lead in the market. The $12 billion investment will cover land, power infrastructure, liquid cooling, networking, and the GPUs themselves.
