YouTube Android App Bug Leaves Users Frustrated with Full-Screen Videos

A months-old bug in the YouTube Android app is causing issues when watching videos in full-screen. The problem first emerged in late April, when users started reporting that the 'Watch next' suggestions row renders over the bottom player area in landscape mode.

This results in the progress bar and video timer being hidden behind the recommendations, making it impossible to drag the progress bar for long videos. Some viewers also mention that the overlay covers part of the video content itself, not just the controls.

The bug remains unaddressed by Google, despite its presence for several months. In the meantime, some users have resorted to workarounds such as updating the app, fully closing it, then reopening YouTube or toggling orientation from landscape to portrait and back while a video plays.
