YouTube Gets Major Overhaul with Custom Feeds and More
Google has announced several new features for YouTube and its music app at its annual Made on YouTube event. The company is introducing Custom Feeds to the YouTube home page, which will allow users to organize their topics of interest across separate tabs with feeds that update automatically.
The feature, initially rolling out in the US, will be available across web, mobile, and TVs. Users can create multiple feeds tailored to specific interests, such as 'evening wind down with long documentaries' or 'new DIY creators.'
For content creators, YouTube is making it easier to organize vertical Shorts videos into seasons and episodes with custom thumbnails. The platform is also adding support for real-time auto-dubbing in live streams and introducing a new Go Live Together experience for co-hosting streams.
YouTube Studio, the company's cloud-based video editing suite, is evolving into an all-in-one creative solution that can generate video thumbnails, perform A/B testing, and review older videos to reach new audiences. On mobile, YouTube is rolling out a conversational editing tool for Shorts videos and the standalone YouTube Create app.
The YouTube Music app is getting upgrades for Premium members, including the ability to control music queues with the Ask Music tool. The platform will also provide curated weekly podcast summaries through its Podcast Lineup feature.
