Zacks Market Edge Podcast Hits 500 Episodes, Reflects on Past Stock Picks
The Zacks Market Edge Podcast has reached its 500th episode, and host Tracey Ryniec took time to reflect on 11 years of discussing stocks, bonds, and ETFs. The podcast began in October 2015, during a bear market in oil.
Tracey mentioned that Commodities appear to be back in a bull market for the first time since 2013, including oil, copper, gold, and silver. This is significant as it marks a shift in market trends.
Looking back at past episodes, Tracey noted that some of her previous stock picks are still winners today. In particular, ExxonMobil (XOM), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), and NVIDIA (NVDA) have performed well over the past 5 years.
XOM is an integrated global energy company with expected earnings growth of 70.7% in 2026 due to higher oil prices and record high refining crack spreads. The stock has a forward P/E ratio of 14.2, making it relatively cheap.
JPMorgan Chase is one of America's largest banks, considered 'too big to fail.' It has an attractive P/E of 14.1 and a price-to-book (P/B) ratio of 2.6. The bank has paid a dividend since 2023 with a yield of 1.7%.
NVIDIA Corp is expected to grow earnings by 59.5% in fiscal 2026, followed by another 93.5% growth in fiscal 2027. Sales are also expected to soar by 88% this year if you bought NVIDIA 5 years ago, shares are up 901%. It's been one of the top performers in the S&P 500.
