Zillow Thwarts Class Action Over Consumer Data Sharing with Microsoft
Zillow Group Inc. has successfully defended against a proposed class action lawsuit alleging it shared consumers' personal and financial information with Microsoft Corp. without consent.
The lawsuit, which was consolidated in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington, claimed that Zillow embedded code on its website that disclosed sensitive data to third parties.
Judge James L. Robart ruled that two of the named plaintiffs lacked standing to bring claims in federal court and that the other two failed to adequately plead claims under Washington law or the Washington Privacy Act.
