Zoox Expands Robotaxi Service at Las Vegas Airport

Amazon's autonomous vehicle subsidiary Zoox has launched paid robotaxi rides at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The expansion allows Zoox to access a major travel hub and strengthens its commercial reach across the city.

The service, which starts on Thursday, will offer rides to and from both airport terminals, including pickups near baggage claim. This gives Zoox an advantage over traditional ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft, which require passengers to walk from baggage claim to a nearby parking garage for pickup.

Zoox gained regulatory approval in August to deploy up to 2,500 vehicles under a temporary exemption from safety standards, allowing the company to expand its commercial operations. The company began charging customers for rides on August 10 and has since released a safety framework as it prepares for wider deployment.
