Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary has ordered Adani Gas Limited to start supplying piped natural gas (PNG) to Udupi city from November. The MP expressed his dissatisfaction with the delay in completing the project during a meeting on August 27.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board allocated the project for completion within eight years, which included providing PNG connections to 1,10,099 households and opening 11 CNG retail outlets in the district. As of now, about 200 km of the pipeline is ready out of a total 300 km.

The work on laying the pipeline had been halted during the monsoon season as per directions from the Udupi City Municipality. Mr. Poojary instructed the company to resume work in October and begin supply of gas in November, targeting about 2,000 households in the first phase.
