ADM, a global agriculture supply chain and processing company, is expanding into the voluntary carbon dioxide removal market. The company will generate credits from carbon capture operations at its corn processing complex in Columbus, Nebraska. With an annual capacity of over 800,000 tons, the planned credit offering is one of the largest of its kind to date.

The Columbus facility has been equipped with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology since 2025, a partnership between ADM and energy infrastructure company Tallgrass. Biogenic CO2 generated during ethanol fermentation at the plant is captured, purified, and compressed before being transported to Tallgrass's sequestration hub in Eastern Wyoming for underground storage.

ADM's Vice President of Innovation & Growth, Kris Lutt, views this move as a key part of their growth strategy. 'Our growth strategy is predicated on smart investments that build on our world-class footprint, and carbon capture is a great example of that.'
