ADNOC and Gulf Group ink 2 million tonne LNG supply deal for 2027
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has taken a major step in expanding its presence in Asia’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) market. The company signed a multi-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Thailand’s Gulf Group, securing a deal to supply approximately 2 million tonnes of LNG starting in 2027.
The agreement reinforces ADNOC’s strategy to grow its international gas marketing and trading operations while establishing long-term supply relationships in key Asian markets. It builds on the companies’ existing partnership, which began with their first LNG supply agreement in 2025. Nasser Al Muhairi, Acting CEO of ADNOC Downstream Industry, Marketing & Trading, emphasized the deal’s significance in providing reliable energy supplies to Thailand and other Asian customers.
For Gulf Group, the agreement aligns with its goal of building a diversified and resilient LNG portfolio to meet Thailand’s evolving energy needs. The company is investing in midstream infrastructure, shipping capacity, and relationships with major international suppliers. Sarath Ratanavadi, CEO of Gulf Development Public Company Limited, highlighted that the partnership will enhance flexibility and scale while supporting regional energy transition objectives.
This deal comes as ADNOC continues to strengthen its LNG marketing and trading capabilities. In July 2026, the company launched its global LNG marketing and trading platform in Abu Dhabi Global Market, aiming to improve customer access and optimize LNG portfolio management. ADNOC targets reaching 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of marketable LNG capacity beyond 2030, positioning itself among the major global LNG suppliers.
