Adnoc Gas has signed an agreement to supply natural gas to the Northern Emirates, supporting new power generation projects. The deal with Etihad Water and Electricity aims to explore future gas supply arrangements for additional power capacity in the region. This move will expand Adnoc Gas’s domestic market while providing a reliable fuel source for the UAE’s growing electricity needs.

Adnoc Gas CEO Fatema Al Nuaimi emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting the UAE’s energy demands. The agreement aligns with Adnoc Gas’s broader strategy to deliver one of the world’s largest integrated gas growth programs, including the Rich Gas Development and Estidama projects. These initiatives will expand processing capacity and modernize the pipeline network, extending it from 3,200km to over 3,500km.

The company currently supplies 60% of the UAE’s sales gas needs and serves customers in more than 20 countries. Global demand for natural gas is rising as economies seek to reduce emissions, with Shell’s LNG Outlook 2026 projecting demand to reach nearly 700 million tonnes annually by 2050. Adnoc Gas also recently signed a five-year agreement to supply up to 1.6 million tonnes of LNG to France’s TotalEnergies.

Additionally, Adnoc Gas is scaling up a global LNG trading platform, combining the marketing activities of Adnoc Gas and investment arm XRG with the commercial capabilities of Adnoc Trading. This platform aims to boost gas exports and strengthen the company’s position in the international market.
