Albania Partners with Argent LNG on Strategic Energy Terminal

Argent LNG has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Albania to develop an onshore LNG storage and regasification terminal on the Albanian coast.

The proposed terminal will have up to approximately 5 million tpy of regasification capacity, providing flexible LNG storage, regasification, and supply capabilities to strengthen regional energy security. Its primary purpose is to provide security of supply across the Western Balkans and Southeastern Europe during periods of peak demand, supply disruption, or market stress.

Albania will serve as a host country and regional energy gateway for the project, leveraging its strategic Adriatic location and existing gas infrastructure. The terminal will be interconnected with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the Ionian Adriatic Pipeline (IAP), and the Fier-Vlorë gas corridor.

The facility is intended to establish an additional source of natural gas supply in the region, providing greater capacity to respond to changing energy needs. It may also contribute to Ukrainian energy security through potential reverse-flow arrangements with US-sourced LNG.
