Algeria Welcomes Brazilian DDG Imports Amid Global Market Expansion
Algeria has opened its market to imports of dried distillers grains (DDG), a byproduct of corn ethanol production, from Brazil. The DDG is rich in fats, fiber, and protein, with a protein content of approximately 30%, making it an alternative to soybean and corn meal in cattle and poultry feed.
Brazil is one of the world's largest producers of DDG, and this market opening is a significant development for the country. In addition to Algeria, Morocco has also opened its market to DDG imports from Brazil. Other countries that have recently opened their markets to Brazilian products include Antigua and Barbuda, China, Chile, and Paraguay.
The announcement was made by Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brasília. This is a positive development for Brazilian producers who can now export DDG to more countries.
