Aramco Profit Jumps Amid Middle East Conflict
Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil exporter, reported a significant increase in its second-quarter net profit. The company's earnings rose 44% year-over-year to 122.6 billion Saudi riyals ($32.7 billion), driven by higher crude prices due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The elevated oil prices were attributed to regional uncertainty, including Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on Saudi-linked shipping in the Red Sea by Yemen's Houthi rebels. Despite significant disruptions to energy supplies, Aramco maintained business continuity due to its diversified asset base and strategic infrastructure.
The company's chief executive, Amin H. Nasser, stated that ongoing regional uncertainty resulted in higher hydrocarbon prices, lower sales volumes, and stronger refining margins compared to the previous quarter.
