Aramco Transfers $9.7 Billion Stake in S-Oil to Singapore Entity
Saudi Aramco has transferred its 63% stake in S-Oil to a newly established Singapore entity, Aramco Downstream Asia (ADA), as part of a global asset management restructuring. The transfer is worth approximately $9.7 billion and was carried out through an intra-group transaction rather than an external sale.
The move appears to be a strategic decision by Aramco to consolidate Asian regional assets under the Singapore entity, streamlining its regional management framework. According to S-Oil, the stake transfer is part of a global organizational restructuring aimed at improving management efficiency across affiliates.
An industry source noted that there was an internal reorganization within Aramco, with the goal of managing its numerous global companies more efficiently by region. The ultimate controlling shareholder remains the Saudi Aramco Group, and the substantive governance structure of S-Oil has not changed.
