Argentine Agro-Industry Sees Record-Breaking 2027 Crop
Argentine President Javier Milei received some positive news ahead of 2027, as initial estimates from the agricultural sector indicate that grain production will reach a new record. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange projects a total of 158 million tonnes for next year, which is a 0.5% increase compared to the previous year's 157 million tonnes.
The exchange also forecasts economic activity linked to the agro-industrial sector to total US$54 billion, nearly 6% higher than the previous cycle. Exports are expected to reach US$41 billion, a 6.9% increase from last year.
According to Ramiro Costa, general manager of the agricultural chamber, these figures are not yet final and will depend on various factors such as weather conditions and production decisions in the coming months.
The agricultural sector remains the main source of foreign exchange for Argentina's economy, accounting for over 50% of exports between January and August this year. The reduction in agricultural export duties implemented by the government is seen as a positive sign for the new crop year.
