Arizona Gas Prices Hit Record Highs Amid Global Crude Price Spike

Arizona's gas prices have reached record highs, causing frustration among drivers who are cutting back on expenses to afford fill-ups. The state average for a gallon of unleaded is now $4.66, up from $3.59 just a year ago, according to AAA.

The sharp increase in fuel prices is attributed to the conflict with Iran, which disrupted key refinery infrastructure and pushed up crude oil prices. Places like Costco have raised prices on motor oil and imposed purchase limits due to global crude prices. Synthetic oil prices are skyrocketing, increasing by 150% according to Marc, a mechanic.

Joel, fueling up his Jeep, said he's simply shopping around for the cheapest gas stations. Diesel prices are also hitting record levels, with some places around the country seeing diesel over $7 a gallon. In Arizona, AAA measures the price of diesel at $6.44, the highest recorded average price in the state.
