Armenia Cuts Off From Russia Gas Amid Tension

Russia's Gazprom Armenia cut off gas supplies to Armenia on September 15-25, citing 'scheduled maintenance and repair work' in the Russian Federation.

The move comes just days after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced plans to reduce the country's dependence on Russian natural gas imports, which accounted for around 82% of Armenia's overall gas imports in 2025.

Gazprom Armenia assured that the cutoff would not cause a shortage for the Armenian market due to the use of 'domestic reserves and additional gas supplies from the Islamic Republic of Iran.'

Azerbaijan has offered to supply Armenia with significant amounts of gas, but this would require finalizing the provisional peace deal brokered in Washington in August 2025.
