Asian Energy Stocks Soar as Oil Prices Rebound on U.S.-Iran Tensions
Asian energy stocks rose on Thursday after oil prices rebounded overnight, driven by renewed tensions between the United States and Iran. Brent crude settled 3.9% higher at $103.08 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 1.8% to $92.16.
The rebound came after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran would not yield to U.S. pressure, following a threat from President Donald Trump the day before.
The increase in oil prices coincided with rising Treasury yields, which reached their highest level since 2007, and reinforced expectations of another interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve in October.
