Asian Markets Mixed After US Gains, Oil Prices Climb Amid Global Tensions

Asian markets were mixed on Monday after gains on Wall Street, while oil prices rose as the status of efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East remained uncertain.

In Tokyo, Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 jumped 2.1% to 66,970.22, led by strong gains for technology companies such as Tokyo Electron and Advantest, which climbed 4.1% and rose 6.4%, respectively.

The Kospi in South Korea added 0.7% to 6,299.66, but shares in major chipmakers slipped, with Samsung Electronics down 0.4% and SK Hynix losing 0.1%.

Brent crude rose 0.8% to $84.23 per barrel, while U.S. benchmark crude advanced 0.7% to $78.72 per barrel.
