Assam CM Hails Record Profits of OIL and NRL as Energy Security Boost
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has praised Oil India Limited (OIL) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) for their outstanding financial and operational achievements. OIL posted its highest-ever quarterly standalone Profit After Tax (PAT), reaching Rs 2,870 crore, a significant 2.5 times increase from the same period last year.
This strong growth was supported by an 11% rise in crude oil output along with favourable price realisation. The company's consolidated PAT also witnessed a sharp surge, climbing to Rs 4,027 crore, reflecting a 97% year-on-year growth. OIL's crude oil production stood at 0.950 million metric tonnes during the period.
Numerically, this translates to over 84,000 barrels per day at its record-breaking daily production peak of 10,921 tonnes. The Chief Minister pointed out OIL's ongoing activities in the Andaman Basin and its technical milestone of achieving a record horizontal drilling displacement of 3,116 metres in an onshore well in Assam.
NRL also delivered an impressive performance, registering a 167% jump in its profit after tax, which rose to Rs 1,305 crore. The refinery reported a strong gross refining margin of $35.95 per barrel and maintained a high distillate yield of 87.58%, indicating efficient operations.
Congratulating the teams behind these achievements, Sarma said the milestones underline Assam's growing importance in India's energy landscape. He added that such performances not only strengthen the state's industrial profile but also contribute significantly to the nation's energy security framework.
