Astell&Kern Unveils Copper-Finished Flagship Digital Audio Player
Astell&Kern has introduced its latest flagship digital audio player, the SP4000T Copper. This new version of the popular SP4000T line features a chassis made from copper rather than stainless steel used in the original silver model.
The company has not announced pricing or general availability, and it's unclear why there's been a delay. Astell&Kern may be waiting for the right moment to enter the market, given that semiconductor supply chain issues have led FiiO to increase prices and Shanling to warn of higher component costs.
The SP4000T Copper has the same internal architecture, amplification system, operating system, and playback capabilities as its stainless steel counterpart. It uses four Raytheon JAN6418 MIL Spec vacuum tubes in a channel-separated Quad configuration and offers 54 possible sound configurations.
