ASX 200 Futures Point to Decline Amid Global Market Volatility
Markets around the world are showing mixed signals as the week comes to a close. In Australia, futures for the ASX 200 index indicate a possible decline of 0.7%, taking it down to 8,711 points.
The previous day's session saw the ASX 200 end unchanged at 8,731 points.
On Wall Street, trading closed mixed on Friday: the S&P 500 rose by 0.2%, Nasdaq by 0.4%, while the Dow Jones fell by 0.2%. Despite this, the S&P 500 saw a slight decline over the volatile week due to rising shares of semiconductor manufacturers.
European stock indices took a hit on Friday: Germany's DAX lost 1.6%, Britain's FTSE fell 1.5%, and the pan-European Eurostoxx 600 declined 1.2%.
The spot price of gold rose by 0.9%, reaching $4,379 per ounce. Brent crude futures fell by 0.4%, to $104.87 per barrel, while WTI declined by 1.6%, to $100.30 per barrel.
