Aura Minerals AUGO Sees Stock Drop Amid Gold Price Slump
Aura Minerals AUGO, a gold and copper miner with operations in Latin America, saw its stock fall 4.94% intraday as gold prices dropped 3.62%. The decline came on the same day Aura outlined its growth plan at Mining Forum Americas 2026. According to management, the company aims to produce between 340,000 and 390,000 ounces of gold equivalent this year.
The medium-term target is significantly higher, with a goal of producing 600,000 ounces annually. The next major step in Aura's growth plan is the Era Dourada project in Guatemala, which is expected to start production in early 2028 and contribute over 110,000 ounces per year.
Aura's CEO emphasized the importance of minimizing capital expenditure while optimizing returns and payback. The company recently acquired the MSG mine, which is currently operating at a cost of around $3,000 per ounce, but management expects this to decrease to about $2,000 in 2027.
