Bajus Lowers Gold Prices by BDT 1,691 per Bhori
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced another reduction in gold prices, marking the 121st adjustment this year. Effective from 10 am local time on Monday, the price of 22-carat gold was cut by BDT 1,691 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing it to BDT 229,081 including VAT. This decision comes as the local price of pure gold declined.
Lower adjustments were also made for other gold purities. The price of 21-carat gold is now BDT 218,816 per bhori, 18-carat gold is priced at BDT 187,907, and traditional gold stands at BDT 153,498. The previous price revision on September 30 had set 22-carat gold at BDT 230,772 per bhori.
Throughout 2024, Bajus has made 121 price adjustments, with 59 increases and 62 cuts. In comparison, 2023 saw 93 adjustments, including 64 increases and 29 cuts. The association did not alter silver prices, which remain unchanged. A bhori of 22-carat silver costs BDT 4,316, 21-carat silver is priced at BDT 4,141, 18-carat silver at BDT 3,557, and traditional silver at BDT 2,683, all including VAT.
