Bangladesh Buys LNG Cargoes from BP Singapore
The government of Bangladesh has approved a purchase proposal for two cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from BP Singapore Pte Ltd. The decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division had placed the purchase proposal under the international Request for Quotation process in accordance with the Public Procurement Rules (PPR), 2025. The two cargoes are scheduled for delivery on August 23-24 and September 4-5, respectively.
The total cost of the two cargoes is around Taka 1,850 crore, including advance income tax. One cargo will be purchased at $21.878 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), while the other will be bought at $21.778 per MMBtu.
