Bangladesh Gold Prices Rise Across Categories Amid Market Shifts
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced an increase in gold prices in the local bullion market on August 15, 2026. The new prices took effect immediately and will impact buyers of 22-carat, 21-carat, and 18-carat gold. According to BAJUS, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori has been increased by Tk2,158 (BDT), from Tk234,621 to Tk236,779.
The prices for other types of gold have also seen an increase: 21-carat gold has risen by Tk2,100, while 18-carat gold has gone up by Tk1,808. Traditional gold has increased by Tk1,458. Buyers must pay more than the set price when purchasing gold jewelry due to a 5% Value-Added Tax (VAT) and a minimum making charge of Tk3,500 per bhori.
The prices for different quantities of gold have been listed on Probashir Diganta's website. The current market price of gold is influenced by factors such as the global demand-supply balance and changes in economic policies. Buyers should be aware that these prices are subject to change based on various market forces.
