Bangladesh Jewellers Association Cuts Gold Prices for 119th Time This Year

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has adjusted gold prices in the domestic market for the 119th time this year. After two consecutive hikes, BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,691 per bhori to Tk 232,930, including VAT.

The new rates came into effect at 10am on Saturday morning, according to a notice issued by BAJUS. The association also cut the prices of other types of gold, including 21-carat and 18-carat.

BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on September 19, raising the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,691 per bhori to Tk 234,621, including VAT. So far this year, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 117 times, with prices raised on 58 occasions and reduced on 58 occasions.

The association also reduced silver prices in the domestic market. The price of 22-carat silver was cut by Tk 291 per bhori to Tk 4,841, including VAT.
