Beach Energy Ltd (ASX:BPT) fell by 3.59% on July 27, 2026, as lower oil prices took a toll on domestic gas producers. The company's shares traded at AUD 0.873 during the session, with an intraday high of $0.885 and low of $0.860.

The decline in Beach Energy's shares was mirrored by the broader energy sector, which fell -3.08% to 10,301.20 points on the S&P/ASX 200 Energy Index (XEJ). This made energy the biggest drag on the Australian sharemarket during the session.

The drop in oil prices was largely attributed to the easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East following a US-Iran agreement to pause military strikes. Brent crude oil fell -5.50% to USD 91.94, removing the risk premium that had pushed crude prices to multi-month highs.
