Australia's Beetaloo basin is set to start producing gas next month, marking the beginning of what developers hope will be the country's own shale revolution.

The Beetaloo holds an estimated 7 trillion cubic feet of gas and could fuel data centres in the Northern Territory and feed liquefied natural gas sales to Asia from the world's second-largest LNG exporter.

Tamboran Resources, a key player in the project, plans to send an initial 40 terajoules (37 million cubic feet) a day of gas to Darwin, followed by Beetaloo Energy's 15 terajoules later this year.

The development has attracted significant investment from the US, with Tamboran raising over A$280 million in April and Inpex taking a stake in Formentera Partners' acreage. Service providers from the American shale patch are also active in the Beetaloo, including Liberty Energy.
