US authorities have seized $61 million in cryptocurrency linked to Iranian oil sales, which allegedly evaded US sanctions. The funds were laundered through various crypto wallets and exchanges, including Binance accounts.

The investigation connected Chinese companies with Binance accounts and a broader $1.5 billion transaction trail. Prosecutors are looking into how these firms processed payments for Iranian oil buyers, converting fiat to crypto in the process.

Blessed Trust and Hexa Whale, two companies named by the DOJ, allegedly facilitated the conversion of fiat to crypto and helped move Iranian oil funds. Authorities claim that these entities obscured the trail of money, making it challenging to determine the beneficial owners of the crypto payments.
