Bitcoin Holds Steady Near $83,000 Amid Fed Signals and Middle East Developments
Bitcoin's price hovered around $83,000 on September 30, as it reacted to comments from Federal Reserve officials and developments in the Middle East. NY Fed President John Williams said that while a rate hike this year remains possible, the central bank is 'in no rush,' signaling opposition to consecutive increases.
Market pricing for an additional October rate hike retreated from roughly 70% to around 50%, easing upward pressure on interest rates and providing a floor for risk assets. Bitcoin's price action showed a notable correlation with crude oil, as reports of pipeline repairs in Saudi Arabia and proposed sanctions relief in Iran sent oil prices lower.
However, Iranian officials expressed pessimism about reaching an agreement before the U.S. midterm elections, and both President Donald Trump and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied reports of nuclear concessions. When oil prices bounced back, Bitcoin dipped below $83,000 at times.
