Bitcoin Surges Past $85,000 Amid Broad Market Optimism
The price of Bitcoin has reached an eight-month high since January 2026, surpassing $85,000 on September 21. This comes amid improved risk sentiment in the broader markets, with the crypto market capitalization at a record high of $2.8 trillion.
According to Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, 'The crypto market capitalisation has risen to $2.8T, its highest level since the end of January this year.' Bitcoin rose 5.1% to reach $85,222 in early New York morning trading.
Other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, Solana, and Tether also saw significant gains, with Ether jumping by more than 4.3% to $2,747. This week's rally is part of a broader market trend, with bonds and stocks rising amid falling oil prices and optimism ahead of the summit between US President Donald Trump and China's Xi Jinping.
However, traders are cautious about the sustainability of this momentum, citing difficult macroeconomic headwinds such as crude oil above $100 per barrel and US Treasury yields elevated. As Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst at Delta Exchange noted, 'The $82,000, $83,000 region now becomes an important support zone. Momentum remains strong, but with daily RSI approaching overbought territory, some consolidation or profit-taking would be normal after such a rapid advance.'
