Black Bayou Invests $1.6B in Louisiana Natural Gas Infrastructure
The Black Bayou Energy Hub has announced a $1.6 billion investment in Louisiana's natural gas infrastructure, with a focus on expanding storage, transportation capacity, and LNG connectivity.
The project is centered around the Black Bayou salt dome in Cameron Parish, where infrastructure will be developed to provide natural gas blending, balancing, storage, and transportation services. This will improve connectivity across the Gulf Coast and support rising demand for LNG exports, utilities, power generators, pipeline operators, and manufacturers.
The investment is expected to generate 23 direct new jobs while retaining five existing positions across the two locations. Louisiana Economic Development estimates that the investment could create another 35 indirect employment opportunities, bringing the potential total to 58 jobs across the Southwest Louisiana and Acadiana regions.
