Black Sea Tensions Weaken UK Grain Markets
UK future grain markets have weakened slightly, according to the Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board (AHDB). The week ending July 31 saw UK feed wheat futures close at £196.50/t, a drop of £3.25/t from the previous seven-day period.
The global grain market remained volatile last week but ended down under pressure, with prices easing from Black Sea-related gains in the early part of the week.
However, these gains were short-lived as renewed attacks on grain infrastructure and shipping heightened concerns over potential disruption to exports from the region. Global grain futures fell on Friday as traders took profits following strong gains through July.
Market sentiment was influenced by currency movements and broader supply fundamentals, with developments in the Black Sea continuing to be a key source of uncertainty and volatility for global grain markets.
